#1: Car Accidents
From tripping on a step while you are going up the stairs to fainting after witnessing a shocking event, there are a number of situations that can cause a person to fall and injure their spine. #4: Diving Into a Body of Water
Any time you jump head-first into a pool or lake, you risk serious injury. People who injure themselves attempting to dive often don’t realize how shallow the water really is until it’s too late. In 2014; 1,718 men sustained spinal cord injuries after trying to dive into a body of water, while just 122 women experienced the same type of injury from diving.
#5: Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcyclists do not have the same protections as drivers and passengers in cars and trucks, which means accident injuries can often be devastating. According to statistics, 1,695 men and 145 women suffered spinal cord injuries due to motorcycle accidents in 2014.
